Using Iodine Rich Black Walnut Hull Tincture

Black walnut hull is a popular supplement that is often used for its potential health benefits, including support for thyroid health, immune system function, antiparasitic properties, and wound astringent effects.

One of the key benefits of black walnut hull is its potential ability to support thyroid health. The thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism and controlling the body's energy levels. Black walnut hull is high in iodine, which is an essential nutrient for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. Studies have shown that iodine deficiency can lead to thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism and goiter. By supplementing with black walnut hull, individuals may be able to support their thyroid health in order to keep the development of these conditions at bay.

Another potential benefit of black walnut hull is its ability to support immune system function. The immune system is responsible for protecting the body against harmful pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Black walnut hull contains compounds called tannins and juglone, which have been shown to have antimicrobial and antiparasitic properties. These compounds may help to boost immune system function and prevent infections.

In addition to its immune-supporting properties, black walnut hull may also have antiparasitic effects. Parasitic infections can be a common problem, particularly in raw meat diets, developing countries, or areas with poor sanitation. Studies have shown that black walnut extract may be effective in treating parasitic infections such as giardiasis and ringworm. It is believed that the juglone found in black walnut hull is responsible for its antiparasitic effects.

Finally, black walnut hull can also be used topically as a wound astringent. Astringents are substances that cause the tissues to contract and dry out, which can help to stop bleeding and promote wound healing. Black walnut hull contains tannins, which are natural astringents. When applied topically to wounds, they may help to reduce bleeding and promote faster healing.

Black walnut hull has a wide range of benefits backed by scientific research. We usually search on healthline.com and read the studies attached to the information we present. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before using any natural remedies.

HOW TO TAKE IT: Black walnut hull extract is a commonly used herbal supplement that may support digestive health, promote a healthy immune system, and provide antioxidant properties. Its potential benefits may vary depending on the individual's unique health needs and lifestyle habits. This tincture should not be taken daily for prolonged use. Typically, this tincture is used (10 to 20 drops) everyday for two weeks to assist with the elimination of parasites, or used daily for the duration of a virus. It may be taken every 2-3 days as an iodine supplement. Do not exceed taking this supplement for more than two weeks daily. Because this is an iodine supplement our body will need a break, as not to build up toxicity. The tincture is 50% alcohol by volume. Some may prefer it as an elixir, with added honey from my backyard bees to make it more palatable. Others put it in water, coffee, or any other beverage. When an alcohol tincture is added to a hot beverage, most of the alcohol will burn off, much like cooking with wine.

HOW ITS MADE: These black walnut hulls have been wildly foraged in Massachusetts. After they have been cleaned, they are cut up, nuts removed. The slices of hull are soaked in 100 proof vodka for 10 weeks to extract all of the compounds. The vodka turns dark green, almost black, but will eventually turn dark brownish as it is exposed to oxygen. In fact, black walnut hulls are/were used as dye. If you do not wear gloves when working with these walnuts, your hands are stained for days. After about 10 weeks, the alcohol tincture is strained up to 5 times until all bits are removed. It is then stored in a cool pitch black place, bottled upon order.
